Network World this week released the findings of its annual State of the Network survey, which touched on everything from budget plans to Software Defined Networking, cloud computing and the Internet of Things.
You can read an executive summary of the results by registering to become a Network World Insider below, but a couple of data points to whet your appetite:
* Six out of 10 network buyers say they will increase cloud-related spending this year, compared to 43% in 2015. Perhaps related to the proliferation of cloud, the most popular spot for spending cuts will be the data center (18% will decrease investment).
* Cloud-based security options are becoming more popular. Just about half (49%) of the respondents say they will deploy a mix of on-premise and cloud-based security systems, while more than a quarter (27%) will implement on-premise-only solutions, and 7% are comfortable with a full cloud deployment.
